The Council is currently seeking a Cleaner

To undertake the general cleaning requirement for Wargrave Parish Council’s buildings (offices and hiring facilities).

The buildings are as follows:

  • Woodclyffe Hall, High Street, Wargrave
  • Recreation Ground Buildings including:- Council Offices, Meeting Room, Public Toilets, Sports Pavilion Changing Rooms and Youth Centre


Reporting to the Deputy Clerk, the Cleaner will be responsible for carrying out the cleaning duties in accordance with agreed schedules to approved standards. The Cleaner will need to use their initiative and have the ability to work without supervision adapting, where necessary, to the varied usage of the buildings.

General Requirements

Routine cleaning duties to include:-

  • Vacuuming
  • Floors
  • Polishing/Dusting
  • Emptying waste bins
  • Toilets
  • Wash/wipe surfaces (tiles/worktops/walls/etc)

In addition to above:

  • To ensure all consumables are replenished for operational purposes (first aid kits, toilet rolls, hand towels etc.)
  • To report any maintenance issues to the Office
  • Monitor and report hirer’s compliance with terms and conditions
  • Setting heating timers
  • Periodic deep cleans
  • Regular liaison with Office staff
  • Other duties as required from time to time

The post is a permanent position of the Council for 15 hours per week over a five day period (Monday to Friday, generally mornings). Hourly rate: £7.75 - £8.25 per hour depending on experience. Flexibility of working hours may be available subject to schedule specifications. This post also includes a Workplace Pension entitlement.
